Senator Ferlo on Single Payer

The debut of Healthy Artists (the movie!) was a sold out success!  Thanks again to everyone who came out to the Pittsburgh Filmmakers Film Kitchen Event.  If you missed it, don’t worry.   We’ll soon debut the film online and it’ll be free to watch.

The night was made extra special by an appearance from PA State Senator Jim Ferlo,  who discussed health care in America.  The Affordable Care Act encourages individual states to experiment with single-payer.  States can apply for an innovation “waiver” and start implementing their own plans starting in 2017.  Senator Jim Ferlo recently re-introduced SB400, a single-payer bill that would save PA $17 billion annually, while providing comprehensive medical, dental, vision, prescription, and mental health care coverage to every citizen in PA.

Learn more about Senator Ferlo and Health Care 4 All PA, the education nonprofit that funded the groundbreaking study on PA single-payer.  Remember: No matter where you live, there are many ways to get involved in the fight for fair care!

Video shot by Garret Jones, edited by Julie Sokolow.  Featuring the song “Bootleg” off the Black Mark album by Host Skull.  Thanks again to Scott Tyson, Matthew R. Day, The Sprout Fund, Pittsburgh Filmmakers, and all our amazing supporters!
