We are thrilled to announce that our film, AMERICAN ARTIST, just won 3rd prize in the international Disposable Film Festival‘s Health Create-a-thon!
AMERICAN ARTIST tells the story of Sigh MeltingStar, a 28-year-old multimedia artist living in Pittsburgh, PA. Sigh’s process includes scavenging supplies from trash, adorning paintings with Lisa Frank stickers, and using the motif of babies throughout his work. While Sigh’s art and philosophy are unique, the health care crisis that affects Sigh is all too common. This documentary short demonstrates the plight of the uninsured American artist and why it is crucial to keep the health care reform conversation on the table.
