Poster designed by jasen lex
Inspired by a love of classic movie posters and Criterion Collection DVDs, our team is mobilizing 20 Pittsburgh artists to design a poster for our documentary series.
As you know, we produce a free to watch, online documentary series in which artists discuss their lives, their work, and their experiences with the current health care system. Many artists work nontraditional and freelance jobs that do not provide health insurance. We try to give a voice to the struggle many artists face in obtaining access to affordable, quality health care.
The Healthy Artists Movie Poster Exhibition bridges the gap between artists, college students, and health care advocates and educators. In collaboration with Be Well! Pittsburgh (Health Care Options for the Uninsured) and the University of Pittsburgh’s Original Magazine, the Healthy Artists team will host an opening night event of food, drink, and music from the Harlan Twins, at which health care advocates will speak, and the top three winners of the exhibition will be announced. The exhibition panel includes representatives of the Criterion Collection, Warhol Museum, MASS MoCA, and Steeltown Film Factory.
The exhibition runs from January 4th-25th 2013 at Modern Formations Gallery, with the opening night event set for January 4th from 7-11pm. Join us!
